In Character Information
character name: "Arya Stark/Bolton" (in fact, Jeyne Poole)
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire
Timeline: the end of A Dance with Dragons DECIDE WHETHER TO REFERENCE THE ONE CHAPTER FROM WINTER
character's age: 14? VERIFY.
powers, skills, pets and equipment:
THE STEWARD'S DAUGHTER | CANON ABILITIES
- daughter of the stark's steward (understands the ins and outs of court/manner/courtesy)
- courtly skills (though not high court); can sew, probably sing as well as dance
- 'trained' under petyr baelish's eye (sexually educated in whore houses)
A LADY'S TRAPPINGS | INVENTORY
- decide pullpoint/base from there
LADY BOLTON'S SCARS | NON-CANON POWER
- physical empathy (the ability to take on somebody else's wounds as her own)
- metaphorical in that jeyne is forced to suffer in the place of arya stark
NO END TO HER SUFFERING | NON-CANON POWER
- extremely difficult to kill (high physical tolerance to trauma)
- extremely susceptible to pain, however (more so than the average person)
- a quite literal translation of the fact that jeyne exists at the very edge of a person's tolerances
canon history:
WARNING: JEYNE POOLE'S HISTORY CONTAINS TRIGGERS FOR: VIOLENCE, TORTURE, SEXUAL SADISM, CHILD ABUSE, SEXUAL ABUSE, RAPE, and BESTIALITY. HERE BE MONSTERS and THEIR NAME IS BOLTON.
There is very little known about Jeyne Poole's early life beyond this: she is the daughter of Vayon Poole, the head steward of House Stark, and she is Sansa Stark's truest and closest friend.
personality:
- Sansa Stark's best friend (loyal)
- of the same temperament as Sansa as far as stories of knights/chivalry
- timid and weak/emotionally less secure and stable than Sansa (Jeyne having to be escorted from the tourney/reaction to the ravaging of House Stark by the Lannisters)
- a young girl expected to be a woman (wedding night) but who is simply further enfrailed by the oppression of the men around her (Littlefinger and Bolton)
- desperate and emotionally traumatized (terrified of Bolton)
- "I am Arya Stark."
- completely stripped of her dignity and identity has a human being
why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting?
In a world where no one is allowed nice things, perhaps one of the most needlessly tragic stories is that of Jeyne Poole. Of those that have managed to survive thus far in A Song of Ice and Fire's narrative, she has arguably suffered the most at the hands of others, having been both physically and mentally abused by Baelish as well as Bolton. Given her pullpoint in the story, there is nothing she wishes for more than some sort of relief or escape from her life as Arya Stark. Dropping her into a game setting would be ideal, especially one so flush with characters from her canon to either marvel, be repulsed by, react to, etc etc her dire situation. There is also the possibility that, given the trauma she has suffered, Jeyne will have difficulty letting go of the Arya Stark persona, even when faced with the real Arya Stark herself.
